Liposomal vitamin C is packaged like a bodily cell so it is protected as it passes through the digestive barrier and then is able to easily deliver the vitamin C directly to the bloodstream and the cells where it is needed.

People must obtain vitamin C through dietary intake, as unlike most of our fellow mammals, we cannot produce it. This is unfortunate as we have relatively high needs which can increase substantially in response to illness, stress and injury, in fact a 70kg goat produces around 13,000mg when not under stress and many times this when under stress!*

Though the dietary absorption of vitamin C is dose dependent, meaning that the more you take in one dose, the less you will absorb. For example vitamin C absorption has been shown to be effective from 30-150mg but after this dosage range, absorption rapidly declines. With many health professionals recommending doses well above 2000mg a day this can mean that most of the vitamin C is not absorbed into the cells, where it is needed. Other forms of vitamin C, such as ascorbic acid, can also cause diarrhoea which is not only uncomfortable but can also result in even lower absorption.

This liposome technology means that it has a much higher absorption rate, with over 90% of vitamin C taken being delivered to the cells. Liposomal delivery is also shown to avoid the usual diarrhoea thresholds of ‘normal’ vitamin C, so you can take larger doses without discomfort.
