Aqua Biome Fish Oil & Sports Performance belong to the unique fish oil product range designed to support microbiome diversity and total body health and wellness. These unique formulas provide an innovative combination of DHA, EPA, and DPA in a ratio that is very similar to that which is found in wild salmon. These products also stand out for unparalleled purity and sustainability in their production. Aqua-Biome™ utilises Anchoveta, caught off the coast of Peru, which is one of the most sustainable sources of omega-3s on the planet.
Aqua-Biome™ Fish oil + Sports Performance contains Quercefit™ a Phytosome® form of Quercetin (Sophora japonica). Quercefit™ is a patented blend that research studies showed, supported muscle wellbeing following physical activity in amateur triathlon athletes. This unique Aqua-Biome™ formula offers antioxidant, immune and seasonal sensitivity support as well as supporting sports performance. This formula offers a total of 1200mg of fatty acids + omega-3s as well as 250mg of Quercefit™ per serve.
What is a phytosome? Phytosome® is a solid dispersion of an extract in a dietary phospholipid matrix. Indena, the company that patented the technology, discovered that by blending a botanical ingredient with something that already exists in the body, such as phospholipids, would improve bio absorption. The body recognises phospholipids as its own and appears to allow Phytosome® forms to carry ingredients through the membranes therefore optimising absorption. Indena use lecithin as their preferred phospholipid. A phytosome can be defined as a delivery system carrying an active molecule to its target in the most natural way. The specialised products in the Aqua-Biome range use Phytosome® technology for enhanced absorption.
DPA - Docosapentaenoic acid
DPA (Docosapentaenoic acid), is a unique fatty acid that is not commonly seen in standardised fish oil concentrations as it is often removed during some of the commonly used production methods. DPA (known as the ‘missing omega’) has its own unique properties and DPA levels in the blood have been found at more than double the levels of EPA. You could think of it as the ‘master omega’ that the body can utilise whenever it needs to as it can be converted to either EPA or DHA, therefore supporting increased tissue levels of these two vital omega-3s. DPA supports eye health, cardiovascular function as well as supporting a healthy metabolism and supports the burning of excess fat. the burning of excess fat. DPA has been found to be the most sensitive marker for cardiovascular health.
Supporting the Microbiome
Microbiome diversity can have a profound effect on the body and omega-3 fatty acids are one of the greatest influencers. DHA plays a significant role in gut flora diversity. It has been linked to supporting the growth of the Lachnospiraceae family as well as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria species. EPA has been shown to support Bifidobacteria as well as playing a role in maintaining balance levels of arachidonic acid. DPA is the intermediate in the conversion of EPA to DHA. EPA, DHA and DPA all help to boost the levels of Akkermansia muciniphila, a bacterium in the human gut that protects and maintains the proper structure of the gut lining.
Aqua-Biome™ Fish Oils boost microbiome health using a ratio of DHA 4: EPA 2: DPA 1.
Extraction Method - TMET
Aqua-Biome™ uses a unique extraction process called “Targeted Molecular Enrichment Technology” (TMET), a process that overcomes some of the major disadvantages with other commercial methods of concentrating fish oil. Processes like super critical fluid extraction, molecular distillation and column separation concentrate EPA and DHA, but unfortunately, it is at the expense of DPA and other omega-3 fatty acids. These other processes separate toxins and impurities by weight; however, some toxic molecules may have similar weight to the good oils. TMET goes that extra mile by not only separating molecules by weight, by also by molecular charge and polarity. The entire TMET process is also green in that it does not rely on harsh solvents, or other toxic chemicals, commonly used in other extraction methods to concentrate the oil for the omega-3 fatty acids.
Quality Standards and Testing
Aqua-Biome™ is also one of the world’s first fish oil products to be certified by the Clean Label Project an independent, non-profit organisation that tests for 130 environmental and industrial contaminants. Their certification provides assurance that the Aqua-Biome™ formulas offer best-in-class purity. With every bottle purchased, Aqua-Biome™ donates to the Mote Marine Laboratory to plant new coral in the Florida Keys.
